I don't think for one minute he was in charge of his life...his career yes but not his personal life and he appeared to escape reality with sex as much as drugs and then there became a direct link between the two. Of course drugs will almost always take over a life and often damage our perception.

Counselling and psychologists can only help if the patient is open and honest. I don't believe George was either of them, therefore how can help be provided when the whole picture is not being shown? I remember in one interview he said he had spoken to his Dr (I think it was his Dr) but that he had not divulged his cruising or the extent of it.

I think GM was is denial about SO much of his life and as we are finding out now, there is a lot of inconsistency in his stories. Whether that is because he has tried to keep his private life just that so lies about stuff and then forgets what he has told who......who knows?

I LOVE him for his looks and of course the wonderful music that has filled my life but I also find him such a complex and interesting character. He fascinates me, as does the discussions on this forum.

A very thought provoking post tcwave particularly regarding LGBT community with which I don't have any experience. xxx

I'd say it's precicely it. I'd say he didn't lie when he said GM is a person for stage and public only. There was another George, the 'real' one whom he wanted to preserve, to keep in privacy as much as possible with all means at disposal, not just his home(s), his family, friends, relationships - his innerself mostly.
I'd say that all of that was very sacred to him personally and he didn't want to share those very deep emotions and views (religious emotions, too ?), private stuff with 'the public'. His family is also clearly showing almost the same kind of approach toward privacy since last Dec.
So, I'd say 'respect', a deep one, to that.

This is absolutely true . He didn't owe the public his deeper innermost thoughts either . He was so forthcoming as it was , maybe that was therapeutic for him . I believe he didn't get what he needed in his childhood and it manifested itself in other damaging ways , it's a shame he was unable to work through these things. That being said we don't know the full extent of it and it is quite personal anyway. Very good last few posts

I read all your comments and felt overwhelmed. I realized that the fans of our dear George are exactly like him - compassionate, kind hearted, loving and genuinely nice. I am sure it makes him happy. Thank you all for your support and thoughts. Maybe there is a hope for me after all...

After all...in hard times, don't we all have to bare in mind this beautiful and charismatic actress' famous line (I hope you all know what I mean, even the very young ones ):

Wow, some very touching posts on here! Tcwave, your post was excellent and extremely perceptive. But really I have taken something away from what everyone on here has written. Thanks to you all.

Dear GMfan87', you wrote something very interesting when you stated: "He didn't owe the public his deepest innermost thoughts...". That is such a fascinating statement to me, because I think it touches on what might have, in fact, been one of George's most serious personal struggles. One the one hand, he was a person first and foremost, and, like all of us, had a right to privacy and to live his life (when he chose to do so) away from the glare of the spotlight. On the other hand, George was a songwriter of the highest order, who shared with the world some of his "deepest innermost thoughts" when you come right down to it. We as fans expected nothing less of him. Perhaps it became overwhelming for George to separate the two aspects of himself and his life, as much as he attempted to do so....

Yes to all you said , Greekgirl and I think it was important for him to be understood . (I don't believe he was as open before things befell him in the 90's. ) Guess that's why he overshared sometimes. So many of us here have reflected on him in every way these past few months and it's heartwarming to see the level of care here. Many of us would of probably done anything to help him if we could have , for humanity reasons and because he gave us much to cherish and we recognized all that was good in him. I hope he found some comfort and catharsis in his most personal songwriting .

Going by this story published in 2015, it is now on loan and on display at "The Beatles Story" exhibition in Liverpool:
http://www.beatlesstory.com/news/201...-beatles-story

It would be nice if GMs family created a permanent exhibition like this. I am sure fans from all over the world would flock to see it and the entrance fee can sustain the venture. George mentioned that his Dad had all the awards and trophies he won over the years and articles like the original FAITH jacket for safekeeping.
I wish I knew all the places the piano went in the US. I don't know if it came to Cincinnati but around that time some arts organization put pianos all around the city in random places for people to play. I don't konw if George/John's was one of them. If not I'm sure this activity was based on George's gesture and that makes me happy. George was a good man.

Irregardless that was good planning on GM's part. There was a question before about if George's business sense was as good as his music sense. His money sense was on point. He ebbed and flowed with his creativity. I think George always knew where his money was and where his money was going. That's why a family is silent and some Twitter accounts are borderline personalities.

Here is the old 2006-2007 thread of this forum about the piano tour in the US:
