Moved by the speeches, and just the mere sight of Andrew, Pepsi and Shirlie together on stage in such circumstances minus George after all this time.

Seeing this tribute hit home really how George was one of a kind. People may sing his songs and hit the notes, but it's difficult to match the intensity of his performance.

I watched the live stream from my phone....wow how beautiful the three of them looked. Standing together looking beyond beautiful saying the most wonderful words. I cried as soon as I heard Andrew's name all the way to the end.
As for performance....well I didn't really enjoy or feel much from Chris Martin. Once they had GM singing too I had hopes that he would be finishing the song that way, just GMs voice. But the duet started and then Chris finished. But I have no hard feelings because the end result was pure class, love and respect.

What Andrew wrote up really was beautiful. I agree they all looked wonderful. Watching live I was overwhelmed and need to hear everything again, but I agree, although I don't think Chris Martin had the voice for that song, I'm sure his heart was in the right place. It was well done. Just have to get used to other people singing George's songs live now.

I have been trying to understand why Chris Martin was chosen since he doesn't have the voice to match George's but I couldn't help being touched by this performance anyway.Perhaps it showcased how sublime George's voice was by comparison. I thought it was very original.

(Shirley is as lovely today as she was 30 years ago.)

Looking at them together, made me think, a one time sort of Wham! reunion wouldn't have been so far fetched, you know? If George had been up to it, maybe not like a full concert, but a handful of Wham songs...

While I was watching it, my bf went and got the big Wham! Wall hanging thats folded up in the other room, I had no idea he was doing that, and he walks in with this huge picture of Andrew and George and I'm like f you! I'm already crying... but it made me laugh too. . Him holding that up... I haven't actually seen it in a while.

Very melancholy and quiet and gentle. But surreal, it occurs to me it has been two months three days from now. With so much up in the air.

Very happy to see George's close friends there. Andrew really held it strong for his friend from his heart since Christmas on his twiter account. The entire thing was well done. I doubt it's easy to do what they did in the public eye.

Excellent performance - tears the pants off Adele's terrible shoe gaze performance of fastlove.

i think they both did him a good service....in different ways. Both are clearly big fans so i struggle to criticise either. Adele is a better singer and Chris is more innovative. Either way they both tried to give the best of them they could. Both were emotional so i don't think we should criticise either. Ultimately, in the last week George has had the world's biggest solo artist and the world's biggest group pay tribute to him....both of whom he loved. Lets leave it there rather than criticise any performance.

Adele tried for the first time in her career to get innovative - what a time to try! I can understand her doing slowed down jazz version (or in line with Georges summer mix of the song), but what she did sounded so damn morbid. Problem was it was a poor choice of a song from the beginning. Appreciate the song meant a lot to her, but it wasn’t the right choice. You Have Been Loved, Jesus to a Child would have gone down a storm with her voice.

...and equally Chris tried to sing a song that was beyond him (on a technical level it was poor compared to George).....but i still don't see the need to do either down for doing what they felt was right. Both were heartfelt and i think that is most important. I loved them both for the passion they put in which at this point in time is more important to me. George got major top list stars tributing hime here and state side. That's what he deserved. Both had put effort into their performances. Why criticise.

I agree that You have been loved or Praying for time would be better choices. However, her slowed version really made one (at least me) pay more attention to the lyrics, and revealed deeper meaning of the song. It is not simply about quick causal sex, but more importantly about his missing of his true and lost love (Anselmo) and the loneliness of his life at that point. I would say that it was well done.

Not criticizing – critiquing. Quite different . . .
Anyways, I'm gracefully bowing out like so many key users have recently. Best wishes to all.

I LOVED this tribute to GM at the Brit awards. Everything, from the spoken words of Andrew, Pepsi and Shirley to Chris Martins performance was beautiful. Loved the carefully chosen footage of GM in the background, with him joining in. The orchestra, the lighting... it was everything it should have been IMO. Well done Brits!
