I just watched the tribute: Adele was singing Fast Love, a ballad version. Wow! It was really really beautiful arrangement. She stopped in the middle and got restarted. I am not sure it was planned or she messed up a bit due to emotion. In any event, it was just beautiful. I am in tears.

Just watched the tribute. Wasn't feeling the song choice. I think Jesus to a Child would have been a better choice.

Adele did a beautiful job and the pictures were beautiful as well but I didn't like Fastlove for this , not appropriate. However I cried hard after .. To see him up there being memorialized...so difficult .

Somehow Adele's version really brought out the sadness of the song. George sang it in a cheerful and slick way to disguise his sadness, his missing of Anselmo. The sadness of the melody combining with the big movie of George really moved me. The fact she had to try it one more time also somehow feels right. It is an emotional tribute and well done. I was not really an Adele fan before, but I probably will become one soon.

I love Adele but that tribute was horrible. Poor song choice. George has too many great songs that would've been a better choice. It just did not do him justice. Sorry. Bruno did better with his tribute to Prince. The Time was a waste of time. They song their own songs as a tribute to Prince.

I've always loved her but I 100% agree with your take on the song choice. I think as a true artist and George's fan, she understood the song, and she made it different and beautiful. Careless Whisper would've been no doubt beautiful but meaningless as George himself hardly wanted to be defined by this song, however popular it was. Jesus to a Child would've been beautiful too but I guess she went for something more creative and different, and I applaud her for this. "I miss my baby" at the end brought me to tears...

I think she did good. The string arrangement... just beautiful!

Well I have to say that was very moving, I really thought it sounded too somber & slow at the start but the emotion and sincerity Adele delivered was on another level, it's a very fitting tribute to our man as it reminded me that GM was so vulnerable and honest emotionally there are few other modern heavyweight artists that could've done better. Remember that whilst Bruno's Lets Go was good, it was a straight parody whereas Adele did go one better IMO anyway

This was... dark.

I mean it was moving, especially the pictures and videos on the screen behind her, but the arrangement was almost apocalyptic, damn.

That was truly awful. Not the messing up. But the arrangement was awful.

I've always said it takes a very brave person to attempt a George Michael cover. I've not looked forward to hearing these tributes, simply because they won't get within a mile of the original and that's hardly a tribute. This, didn't get within a million miles.

What is it with the trend to slow songs down? I've heard song after song destroyed. Dermot O'Leary's R2 program is a hot bed for it. The most disastrous one I've heard was Guy Garvey doing Let's Dance. Nile Rodgers was truly apauled by it. He rightly said it was a fast song with energy so keep it that way!

George wrote enough ballads for Adele to choose from.
